Can you imagine that your life since you were born has been going on in a narrow stereotypical circle of people such as your parents, doctors, therapeutists and teachers? Handicapped people have to face social exclusion from their early childhood. Let´s open these closed doors for them.

Children and young people with different extent of impairment ( auditory, visual, mental and physical) cannot attend regular summer camps , sports clubs with other children , they are not always accepted at social and cultural events, they can´t get adequate jobs. Our association is here to solve their problems. More about the project.

15 years ago a group of enthusiasts consisting of parents, teachers, doctors and therapists of those extraordinary children decided to change this situation. Civil association Usmej sa na Mna ( Smile on Me) helps these people living in Kosice and surrounding area. It covers all kinds of impairments and for each age category it organises appropriate events. Summer camp is organised for children, a stay in a sea resort for young adults, beneficial concerts and annual ball is the best choice for adults and floorball, bowling and swimming trainings are organised for our gifted sportsmen.

What is your financial contribution used for?

Finishing obligatory school attendance represents one of the most critical moments in lives of these children. One of our main goals is finding their place on the job market as well as increasing their feeling of social importnace. That is the reason why we regularly organise creative workshops focused on getting skills through art therapy and ocupational therapy. Our young people have received experience in pottery, working with wire and dried corn leaves. They have also learned how to use sawing machine and have tried different batik techniques. In these workshops children have created plenty of fascinating objects bringing them pleasure and satisfaction. Your donations will be used for buying new equipment for our creative workshops and material for other activities that are arranged by our association Usmej sa na mna.
