Better education for students in Kenya
Sote ICT is a collaboration of Slovak and Kenyan practice firms at secondary schools. We also support Kenyan IT clubs and their graduates in starting their own business at Sote Hub in Voi town.
72 to donors
In Kenya we support 12 secondary schools, where we equipped Computer rooms and helped to establish IT clubs where students created 28 practice firms. More than 400 high school students develop their computer skills through practical assignments based on business simulation and growth of their practice firms. We organize joint competitions and video conferencing also with ten Slovak secondary schools. Through Great Country portal we want to fund the purchase of materials for practice firms and support their activities and promotion. More about the project.
Support startup ideas and an Innovation Fair for our students
Only 700 € and we'll hit out next goal!
For the fourth time students from Sote ICT clubs will present their business ideas at our Innovation Fair in Voi on July 14, 2018. This year, however, we have no funding from SlovakAid for the first time, as it used to be in the past, and our Kenyan partners from Sote Hub are organizing and funding the event on their own. With this fundraising campaign, we want to help them and contribute to purchasing the prizes for winning student teams from 12 schools, that we have long supported. This year, training companies will not be presented, only smaller teams up to 4 students with their startup ideas. Last year we tried this concept of the startup idea competition, and one idea, an electronic elephant monitoring device, from four students at high school Kajire Girls later won the national round of another competition - StartUpAfrica and the team with their teacher went to present to Delaware in the US. Help us continue with similar successes! This year, we received and evaluated together 66 business ideas and selected 30 ideas that students will present personally at the Innovation Fair in Voi. Many of the ideas are trying to creatively address local issues and the topic of Sustainable Development Goals using technology. We want to work with the winning teams to help them create prototypes and motivate them to become members of our Sote Hub and to start their own companies after graduation.
